Japan Robot

A Japanese journalist inspects a new robot “Halluc II,” developed by Takayuki Furuta, chief of the Future Robotics Technology Center at the Chiba Institute of Technology, during a news conference in Narashino, near Tokyo, Wednesday, July 25, 2007. The eight-legged/wheeled Halluc II robot, equipped with 13 censors to measure distance beneath and side of the body, two censors to detect obstacles in 360-degree around the body, three axis sensors to keep the proper body balance, can move flexibly in three different styles as vehicle, insect and animal, with a total of 56 motors. Furuta said he has been developing the robot to be used in various terrains including natural disaster-hit roads or off-roads for emergency, rescue and welfare operations in the future.
