• Accel

RobotBaka built this hybrid humanoid-motorbike robot named Accel in 2007.

• Bandit

USC’s Interaction Lab, led by Dr. Maja Mataric, is developed socially assistive robots to assist in a variety of areas where humans can’t do all the work.

• KHR-1

The first iteration in KAIST’s Korean Humanoid Robot was the KHR-1, developed between 2000 and 2002.

• Simon

Georgia Tech’s Socially Intelligent Machines Lab created Simon, a humanoid robot, to study human-robot interaction and learning.

• Star Trek (2009)

J.J. Abrams’ reboot of Star Trek isn’t trying to be a good Trek film, but manages to be one anyway.

• HRP-2P “P-chan”

AIST’s 2nd robot in its HRP series was the wholly original HRP-2P, the first of its size to be able to get up from a prone position. It also reduced the impact of a fall using reactive motion control.

• Mahru / Ahra

Samsung and KIST have been developing full-size humanoid robots since 2004, with the first version being called Mahru. It was touted as the first network-based humanoid robot.
