Top 10 Reasons Human Heads don’t belong on Robots

One of the most disturbing trends in robotics are the animatronic human heads that are sometimes attached to robotic bodies. Hanson Robotics did it with Einstein (Albert HUBO), Kokoro and AIST recently did it with HRP-4C (the fashion model), and NTUST did it with Adam and Janet (the kissing humanoids). Frankly, I don’t like it. I think we’re still too far off from creating realistic human heads to escape the uncanny valley. But even if we did have the technology, putting human heads on robotic bodies still wouldn’t look right. And to prove it, I made these

    I kind of like creepiness in robots. I find most humans to be somewhat creepy so it feels familiar when I see in a robot.
