• DiGORO – a robot that learns
A group of students at the Intelligent Systems Laboratory (Nagai Lab) at the University of Electro-Communications (UEC) are developing a robot called DiGORO that can learn through human instruction. A human performs the desired task while the robot watches, and after a few demonstrations the robot is able to mimic the task. The robot has object and face recognition, and can add to its vocabulary by extracting unknown words spoken by a person. It stands 150cm (5′) tall, weighs 120kg (264 lbs), has an arm length of 95cm (3′), and moves around on a modified Segway.
