Chinese Robots Appear At Hong Kong IT Festival

Arnold Wu is a Chinese hobbyist who has built a very small humanoid robot called Gabrio-M out of wooden popsicle sticks and servos! It stands 14.5cm (5.7″) tall and has 16 DOFs (servos have 1.6kg/cm torque). Thanks to its unusual construction materials the robot is smaller than Takara-Tomy’s I-Sobot, which was considered the world’s smallest humanoid robot in production until GeStream’s BeRobot was invented.
Gabrio-M was demonstrated at the 2009 Hong Kong IT & Computer Festival alongside another robot, TKO 02, built by Blood Keith. Keith even built 5-fingered hands for his robot not unlike those sold by Crafthouse. Videos of the robots in action, and a few photos from the festival, follow after the break.
