While perhaps not quite as sophisticated as RoboSquare’s Samurai of Kuroda robot, the Asahi Shimbun (the 2nd largest newspaper in Japan) featured this hobby robot in miniature samurai armor. It appeared at an event sponsored by ROBOBASE, the only robot shop open in Nagoya. Owner Daisuke Goto often participates in local events with robot-related activities such as dance performances and competitions. Besides robot kits and weekend classes for children to learn about them, ROBOBASE recently started an R&D team to build new robots. ROBO-GARAGE’s Tomotaka Takahashi has helped out by designing the store’s mascot (Base-kun) and giving presentations of his robots.
