TINYWAVE, a 33cm (13″) tall bipedal hobby robot weighing 1.45kg (including the battery) is now up for grabs. Developed by Jeon Chang-Hoon (a champion of ROBO-ONE KOREA) and Tomio Sugiura (famous for his Dynamizer robots) who has been showing it off for some time, the kit recently took first place amidst stiff competition from 62 robots at the first ever ROBO-ONE Light tournament. The robot comes fully assembled in various colors (light blue, blue, gold, black, silver, and red) with 16 Robotis AX-12 servos for 220,500 JPY ($2,400 USD). Additional degrees of freedom (up to 21) and sensors can be added for a few hundred dollars extra.
Rather than using existing Robotis motion control software, TINYWAVE comes with its own proprietary motion builder software Motion Creator and is controlled using a Bluetooth PS2-style game pad.
