The Corpora has published a wonderful infographic that presents all the specifications of their open source communication robot Qbo.  The robot looks sufficiently different from NEC’s PaPeRo that a lawsuit can probably be avoided, but the similarities are striking.  Qbo stands 45.6cm (18″) tall, weighs 9~11kg (20~24 lbs), and is equipped with a variety of sensors that allow for stereoscopic vision, speech recognition, speech synthesis, and crash & fall avoidance.  What we don’t yet know is just how much this open-source robotics platform will set you back.
