Will Humanoid Robots Help Build Mega-Engineering Projects?
Japanese culture blog Pink Tentacle has a good post about Shimizu Corporation’s outlandish engineering proposals, including a lunar solar power plant that beams energy at the Earth and a Mega-City Pyramid. In the following excerpts from Extreme Engineering (most likely to pad out the episode’s length) they visited AIST and filmed the HRP-1 and HRP-2P doing construction work via teleoperation. There’s also some interesting concept animations showing what construction robots designed to build the Mega-City Pyramid might look like.
