Wakamaru, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ unflagging yellow robot, is hosting a shipbuilding tour all summer long. A museum in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture is hosting the tours every Wednesday, which will teach children about manufacturing and shipbuilding, as well as the story of a local historical inn. It’s only fitting that Wakamaru should take part in the tour, as Shimonoseki is home to one of Mitsubishi’s shipyards. The Shipyard Workers Affairs Division hopes it will encourage interest in their line of work amongst the youngsters. For its part, Wakamaru greets the visitors with a friendly “hello”, and shakes hands with the guests, and the tour itself is free.
