・Candy-05
One of the resulting prototypes from the last round of NEDO (New Energy & Industrial Technology Development Organization) funding is Candy-05, developed by Nirvana Technology (now Hajime Research Institute). Candy-05 is a 120cm tall caddy ‘bot that rolls around on wheels, and has stereoscopic cameras in its head which allow it to locate a golf ball, eye the hole, and putt.
It was designed as an entertainment robot for park areas, as golf is a very popular sport amongst Japanese businessmen (despite the scarcity of real courses in Japan). Video after the break.
