Video: iCub Shows Off Its Force Control

The Italian Institute of Technology has published a couple of videos showcasing the iCub’s 6-axis force-torque sensors, which allow the robot to dynamically adjust its joint positions based on external disturbances.  This gives the robot a safe, life-like elasticity when bumped unexpectedly, but can also be used to detect contact or physically guide the robot while it is learning manipulation tasks.
