In 1993 Honda developed the P1 (Prototype Model 1), their first prototype of a man-like model with an upper body and limbs. The P1 was developed to identify the most appropriate way to ensure synchronous arm/leg movements, which would be achieved with this prototype. As such, the prototype does not feature an integrated power source. It was able to flip external electrical switches on and off, grab doorknobs, and pick up and carry things. It was a bit of a monster, standing 191.5cm (6’3″) tall, and weighed 175kg (385 lbs).
