Panasonic’s latest publicity stunt to sell their brand of eco-friendly EVOLTA batteries is over now that the robot has passed all 53 Stations of Tōkaidō. The 500km (310 mile) trek from Tokyo to Kyoto took almost 2 months, beginning on September 23rd and ending November 22nd, 2010. The EVOLTA Traveler robot was powered by 12 rechargeable batteries that were charged once a day, and the entire trip was broadcast live via Ustream. Now Panasonic is calling for people to share photos they took as the robot crossed their path, which can be uploaded to the official website here. You can watch highlights from the adventure, which are still being uploaded, on the official YouTube channel.
