Two Takes on Service Robots From China

Beginning November 20th, Beijing is hosting the 5th China International Cultural and Creative Industry Expo (ICCIE).  Admission is free so anyone can enjoy the exhibits, including the service robot shown here.  The robot has a touch screen in its chest and streams messages via an LED array in its visor.

And here’s a decidedly less sophisticated approach, a “robot” kiosk shaped like a friendly policeman designed to help people as they travel from the Chinese mainland to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, and other countries.  Though, based on photos of citizens requesting explanations from the staff, “A Pang” isn’t exactly eliminating work for the Quanzhou City exit and entry administration.
