Recycling Robot Crushes Soda Cans, Environmental Waste

Just when you thought trash-can robots were a thing of the past, here comes a robot that eats aluminum cans.

Dr. R.E. Cycler is an entertainment robot built by Florida Robotics, to teach kids the value of the three R’s – reduce, recycle, reuse!  Just drop a can in its open mouth and watch as it’s crushed to less than an inch in size inside its stomach.

It also sports a solar panel on its head as part of its green agenda, though I doubt it provides enough juice to actually power the robot.  It’s too bad Dr. Cycler can’t take the recyclables in one of its claws and toss it back all by itself, but I’m sure kids will have fun with it anyway.

The company has been building entertainment robots since 1993, and it looks like there’s no stopping them any time soon.

And in case you can’t get enough of recycling robots, check out this one built for a similar purpose in Japan.

Thanks, Fay!
